History of Sakthi
Inspired by our ICM Foundress Mother Marie Louise De Meester, her zeal for God’s reign, her deep interior life ,her love for the poor we the ICM sisters came forward to channel our mission towards the integral human development of women. In the early 90’s three ICM sisters were moving around Dindigul District to study the living conditions of the children , adolescence and women
It was an eye sore for us to see that these groups of female facing surmount suffering, discrimination, torture due to dowry leading to suicide in some cases, physical and sexual harassment, molestation in work place, child marriage and illiteracy. We were overwhelming challenged by the pathetic socioeconomic, cultural and political system that inflicts these women with violence and violations and denial of their fundamental rights

“In order to make these women to live a decent human living with self dignity and self esteem we intervened differently. Through folk music and dance we could organize these groups to awaken them around their issues and to strengthen them to fight against all odds. We succeeded. We realized, that We are Called To Be Different, as a result we started Sakthi Centre.”

Can we count on you?
